SAGs and Refreshments

Riders rave about our SAGs. Steve DeMeyers, a PBR veteran rider, put it best when he said , “When I go into the SAG, I feel like a vine. When I leave, I feel like a pumpkin.”

Pumpkinvine Bike Ride participants will receive route maps with sag locations and times they are open on the day of the ride. Sandwiches, water, Gatorade, fruit, and snacks are served at the SAGs.

Vic’s homemade ice cream is served with homemade pie at Abshire Park and Shipshewana at the end of the ride.

County Line SAG is located in an Amish farmyard on County Line Road.

Great ride/great day! A group of us rode our first one this year after hearing wonderful things about the Pumpkinvine ride, and all of them were true. Really a first-rate job, from maps, to marking the routes, to easy and fast registration, to all the helpful and friendly volunteers and sag locations!  I should make you aware of one problem, however. This is probably the the only bike ride I’ve ever been on where I rode 42 miles and gained 5 pounds!! What outstanding sags!!!! We were all especially impressed with the volunteers putting the peanut butter & jelly on bagels, so we didn’t have to handle the knife or spoon which is covered with gunk like on most rides. And then the pie and ice cream at the end (groan). We twisted each other’s arms and did our share. You can be sure we will mark next year’s date on our calendars early and already look forward to riding it again. Thanks for the special day!
